CHEMICAL PEELS

A chemical peel is a skin resurfacing technique that removes the outer, damaged layer of the skin, revealing fresh, healthy skin underneath. Chemoexfoliation, also known as chemical peeling, uses specially formulated acidic agents that allow for rapid, predictable, and uniform penetration of the skin. By gently removing this skin and stimulating the body’s natural healing process, chemical peels can improve the appearance of skin. Did you know that chemical peels are the third most commonly performed noninvasive cosmetic procedure in the United States? Over 1,300,000 chemical peels were performed in 2016 alone!

Here in Florida, we love our time on the beach and on the water; they don’t call us the Sunshine State for nothing! However, all that sun can take its toll on the delicate skin of our faces. Chemical peels are fantastic solutions for the dark spots and wrinkles that sun damage inflicts.

At Dr. Mylissa’s Medical Boutique, we’re proud to offer our patients the best products on the market. We use VI Chemical Peels to get our patients optimal results that will have them feeling beautiful inside and out.

These peels work for patients who struggle with melasma, hyperpigmentation, cystic acne, scarring, fine lines, and wrinkles, or anyone who wants an anti-aging and rejuvenating skin treatment.  This peel is sub-dermal, or a medium depth peel which means it peels more than just the top layer, revealing the “baby skin” underneath, and without the recovery time that a deep peel requires. VI peels perfect your skin’s texture by smoothing away rough skin to reveal a more youthful, glowing complexion. Ready to get started on gorgeous, dewy skin? You can call our office at (561) 330-9444.

You’ve got nothing to lose but scars, wrinkles, and dark spots!

ABOUT VI PEELS

The VI peels are made in the USA by a family-run company called Vitality Institute. These peels were originally formulated by a dermatologist and loving father who was looking for a solution to his daughter’s cystic acne. She’s now running the company, and her skin looks great.

These peels are medical grade and so they must be administered by a trained medical professional. And, they really work. The before and after pictures speak for themselves! When you come in for a chemical peel, you’ll be able to choose from five different formulations, depending on your unique skincare concerns.

These chemical peels treat acne, melasma, signs of aging, hyperpigmentation, and acne scarring. Even better, they’re safe for all skin types, and deliver gorgeous results in less than a week.

VI PEEL OPTIONS

The Vitality Institute’s VI Chemical Peels come in 5 different varieties, so there’s sure to be a formula that’s perfect for you.

  • Original: The original VI peel addresses tone, texture and coloration. It tightens, smooths, and brightens. Not only does it help rejuvenate skin, it helps prevent future damage. This peel is a great first-time peel for all age groups who want fresh, healthy, radiant skin.
  • Advanced: The Advanced formula targets irregular pigmentation, and features a deeper penetration to soften fine lines and wrinkles. It enhances collagen stimulation to increase cell turnover and improve elasticity.
  • Purify: Stubborn acne is no match for the Purify formula! This peel features a combination of ingredients that increase cellular turnover, opens pores, and reduces clogged pores. It leaves the skin healthy and balanced for fewer future breakouts.
  • Precision Plus: This peel is all about lightening and brightening! It targets discoloration and photodamage. Precision Plus exfoliates to fade dark pigmentation and smooths textural damage.
  • Purify with Precision Plus: For those with acne, scarring, and discoloration, this formula offers the best of both worlds. It addresses clogged pores, kills the bacteria that causes acne, and fades acne scars and the dark spots that breakouts can leave behind.

HOW DO CHEMICAL PEELS WORK?

Today’s Chemical Peels may have modern and innovative formulations, but it’s certainly not a new idea. The Ancient Egyptians used mild corrosive ingredients like limestone and sour milk to smooth the skin. Baby Jesus may have gotten a facial for his birthday: frankincense and myrrh were also used as ancient facial treatments! Ancient Turks used flames, and Hungarian Gypsies passed down their recipes for skin treatments for generations.

Today’s chemical peels use an acid as a caustic agent to remove the outer layer of skin.

This causes controlled “keratocoagulation,” which is essentially the breakdown of the proteins in the treated layer of skin, and results in a controlled injury that works to your skin’s advantage!

At the same time, this exfoliation improves any irregular pigmentation, like with sunspots. Chemical peels improve the appearance of skin by decreasing the quantity and quality of wrinkles and/or acne scars, reducing the inflammation caused by acne, improve dyspigmentation, and producing an overall more youthful appearance.

This specially targeted inflammation:

  • Activates the body’s healing signal cascade
  • Stimulates the development of new dermal collagen and elastin
  • Reorganizes structural connective tissue to remove scar tissue
  • Regenerates new keratinocytes- the outer layer of protective skin.

This results in rejuvenation and thickening of the epidermis, for smoother, healthier new skin.

GOOD CANDIDATES

The VI peels are approved for all skin types, making these chemical peels a great alternative for those with darker skin, who aren’t always good candidates for laser facials. Whether you’re suffering from acne, acne scars, wrinkles, sun damage, or other skin conditions, there’s a VI peel for you.

PERSONAL CONSULTATION WITH DR. MYLISSA

During your consultation at our office in beautiful Delray Beach, our team will evaluate your skin and review your medical history to determine which chemical peel treatment will best address your skincare concerns. At Dr. Mylissa’s Medical Boutique, you can expect honest and personalized attention. If another treatment will be the best solution for your aesthetic goals, we’ll let you know! We’ll also make sure that your procedure is the best fit for your budget, and will be able to provide you with an accurate cost estimate for your treatments.

Your treatment will be explained in detail so that you know exactly how to prepare, and what to expect after your chemical peel.

PROCEDURE

When you come in for your chemical peel treatment, we’ll begin by cleansing your skin. We’ll then apply the chemical peel solution. You may feel a mild burning sensation as the peel is applied, but this subsides as the “frosting” effect occurs. The acids in a chemical peel break down the proteins in the outer layer of your skin, and causes  a white substance to appear on the skin where the chemical agent has been applied. That’s how you know it’s working! Your frosting lets your aesthetician know how deep your peel is penetrating, and how quickly its working. This process will be closely monitored. Once the appropriate amount of time has passed, this acid will be neutralized with a soothing solution. This is a controlled chemical reaction, and so you may experience a temporary sensation of warmth or light stinging.

Your face will then be cleansed with a soothing medicated towlette, and your aesthetician will apply a nourishing layer of specially formulated hydrocortisone cream to help with redness and sensitivity.

RECOVERY

Most patients report that they’ve forgotten all about their peel until around day 3, when they begin to shed the outer layer of their damaged skin. This is when your fresh new skin makes its grand entrance!

AFTER YOUR SKIN HAS FINISHED PEELING, YOUR DEWY NEW SKIN WILL BE SENSITIVE:

  • Protect your face from the sun with a hat or a good sunscreen
  • Do not apply retinol or retinoids of any kind of benzoyl peroxide
  • Cleanse using a gentle cream or milky cleanser, not a foam-based product.
  • Do not wax
  • Avoid abrasives or physical scrubbing like exfoliants
  • Hydrate well with a gentle, soothing moisturizer

RADIANT RESULTS

Are you glowing yet? After your chemical peel, you’ll notice reduced lines and wrinkles. Dark spots will appear lighter, and if you’ve treated acne, you should see reduced breakouts and diminished acne scars. We’re confident that you’ll love your results, and will look forward to your next chemical peel session to enhance your results!

HOW MUCH DO CHEMICAL PEELS COST IN SOUTH FLORIDA?
